At Youth and Children Support Network Uganda, we think that God prioritizes every child, especially those with the most difficult needs, and that far too many are forgotten, unheard, exploited, and endangered.
Every child has the right to be free of fear, neglect, abuse, and exploitation and to be safeguarded from violence. Despite this, three quarters of Ugandan youngsters are subjected to some type of violence. Physical violence has been encountered by the majority of youngsters (68 percent of boys and 59 percent of girls), while sexual abuse has been experienced by one in three girls and one in six males. The scars can last a lifetime, and they frequently cause mental health problems and psychological discomfort in adults.
