We advocate for more investment in these systems at the national and local levels; we support government-led efforts such as the toll-free national child helpline “Sauti 116“; and we engage with schools to improve reporting and response processes.
To end violence against children in Uganda, we must form a coalition to push for the elimination of corporal punishment and to assist children in developing their own solutions to reduce violence in schools. We endeavor to persuade officials to enforce legislation. We collaborate with schools to boost girls’ educational opportunities, as remaining in school longer can lessen the likelihood of a girl becoming pregnant or married.
