As the country’s population grows, the majority of that growth will occur in rural areas, where access to health care is severely constrained. Public health in Uganda has long been underfunded, to the point where one in every two Ugandans seeking medical treatment must go to a private clinic rather than a public clinic, because the latter is unable to deliver services.
