Youth Livelihood & Child Poverty

Uganda has one of the world’s youngest populations, with 75% of the population under the age of 30. This has a lot of potential for the future, but it also has a lot of drawbacks. Youth, particularly in rural regions, struggle to obtain quality work and prospects. Because of the poor quality of education and the high number of students dropping out of school, many young people lack the necessary skills to find work. Climate-related shocks and disasters also endanger livelihoods and put families in a difficult position to support their children. We are assisting youth and their families in meeting their basic requirements and breaking the poverty cycle.
