Urban Farming

Agriculture and food systems in and around cities play an increasingly essential role in income production, particularly for young people, as urbanization and migration to cities increase. In a City Region Food System (CRFS) strategy, it is critical to recognize both this fact and the presence of overlapping impediments to work among young people.

The project’s objectives are to improve food security and sovereignty, promote social inclusion, enhance income and employment, and offer environmental management for disadvantaged populations through sustainability and the promotion of resilience. This is accomplished through farmer training and support, financing options, nutrition and healthy eating education, infrastructure development, and promotion of the city’s urban farming value chain.
